CMS (Content Management System) allows you to create a website which promotes online communities with its interactive features such as polling, chat, message boards, member registration and more. It also makes building and managing a website easier particularly when creating new content pages or editing the existing ones.
You would need a little knowledge of HTML and CSS to use CMS to be able to make some changes to your template or theme so you can put your logo, slogan and also making little changes in column width and so on. But there are CMS that would not need any coding experience. Now you might ask how you go about creating pages for the domain using CMS. This should not be such a challenge as you can get a lot of help from the main administration page of the CMS you chose.
One of the contents in the main administration page of a CMS allows you to manage your different pages. Basically, you will select a template then put information into the required fields. The default template only would ask you to enter some content together with a page title. You can also create other necessary fields and set where they display.
You would usually create a new page because you would want to add a new content. CMS allows you to choose what settings will be used on that particular page for instance what template you would use and what would be its contents. You can also edit your pages once created using page manager.
CMS makes use of PHP codes or PHP scripting language to create and manage HTML content, images and other documents. What makes CMS better than others is that it does not only allow you to create web content but it also lets you manage and edit that content.
To sum it up, a Content Management System makes it easier and faster for you to create and manage web pages. Once you get into it even if you have no knowledge at all in programming languages you can still manage your way through creating and managing your own web pages. This is because such systems are designed to users who are not well-versed in the world of programming. CMS store content in databases and provide its users with different web page templates options.
With the presence of CMS, you can now do away with an HTML editor.
